The students at Eumundi State School enjoy a wide variety of learning experiences provided by a team of committed teachers in a range of classroom environments from single year level to multi-age classes from Prep to Year 7.  The class teachers enjoy the support not only of specialist teachers and the management and administration team, but also from a very active parent body both within classrooms and through more formal structures such as the School Council and Parents and Citizens' Association.

Our school focuses on delivering a quality education in all Key Learning Areas with an emphasis on providing a wide range of activities within The Arts, Sport, ICT and Environmental areas.

Curriculum Overview:

Our Curriculum Framework incorporates knowledge, skills and processes drawn from the eight Key Learning Areas.  Eumundi’s curriculum represents a sequence of planned and balanced learning experiences designed to meet the current and future needs of all our students.

Exit Outcomes:  We aim to ensure that all students who leave Eumundi State School will have achieved the following outcomes to the best of their ability.

1.  Literate, numerate and technologically competent.

2.  Independent, creative learner able to cope with change.

3.  Socially responsible community member.

4.  Effective communicator.

5.  Motivated, confident and self-managed individual.

6.  Active participant in the world.

Curriculum Organisers:  To facilitate this we have organised our curriculum into four main communities, one of which will be addressed each term when the class teacher plans their Unit, or Units of Work.

Social Community

Green Community

Creative Community

Future Community

The Core Learning Outcomes from from the Key Learning Areas of SOSE (Study of Society and the Environment), Science, Technology, HPE (Health and Physical Education) and The Arts (Music, Drama, Media, Visual Arts) have been allotted to the Community that seems most appropriate.

Two other Key Learning Areas - Maths and English - are taught as separate skill lessons as well as being embedded in most activities.

Our LOTE (Language Other Than English) language is French. French at Eumundi

Unit Plans

A Unit Plan is a sequence of learning experiences based on a particular theme.  eg. Water.  When teachers design their units of work they use an integrated approach. Outcomes from a variety of Key Learning Areas will be able to be addressed in most units.  In planning their Units teachers also take into account the different learning styles, abilities and interests of their students.

 Assessment Tasks and Criteria Sheets

Assessment tasks are derived from the Unit Plan.  They are designed so students can demonstrate what they know and can do

Criteria sheets are designed to show what standard each student can achieve while doing the assessment task, or has achieved after completing  the  task.

Permaculture

At Eumundi we have planned a progressive curriculum based on Permaculture.  The main concepts for different year levels include:  Plants, Animals and Insects, Soil, Water, Trees, Patterns, Climate, Buildings and Structures, The Designed Ecology.  The Permaculture units mainly address outcomes from our Green Community.  The curriculum is designed so that each year students focus on different aspects of permaculture, ensuring a variety of different hands on experiences will be provided for all students each year.  You can see some of the progress.
